Client: Victor's Flowers
Business Issue
In September of 2001, Victor's Flowers was unexpectedly inspected
by OSHA. During the inspection, OSHA established numerous safety
violations by the company and therefore assessed fines to Victor's
Flowers totaling over $18,000.
The Solution
Victor's Flowers quickly contacted Applied Underwriters,
requesting assistance to resolve the problems and to minimize
the fines. Applied Underwriters' Loss Control department
worked closely with the ownership of Victor's Flowers and
with OSHA to resolve each violation. Having assessed the challenges
faced, Applied Underwriter's knowledgeable team outlined
the necessary steps required to correct the problems and submitted
these recommendations to Victor's Flowers and to OSHA.
The Result
After extensive research by the Loss Control Department and based
on the efficacy of the recommendations, OSHA agreed to reduce
the fines assessed to Victor's Flowers by approximately $15,000.
